Hoa Phat Group has generated 1.8 billion kWh of electricity, saving nearly 3,500 billion dong, contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving production efficiency.

According to Hoa Phat Group, in the first six months of 2025, the total power generation of thermal power plants at Hoa Phat's integrated steel production complexes in Hai Duong and Dung Quat reached more than 1.8 billion kWh. Converted at the current electricity price, the value of the self-generated electricity is nearly 3,500 billion dong.
Of this, Dung Quat’s electricity output reached 1.45 billion kWh, meeting over 90% of the electricity demand of the entire complex. The remaining came from the (old) Hai Duong plant with 358 million kWh. Both plants operate using technology that recovers residual heat from coke production and utilizes surplus coal gas in iron and steelmaking as fuel for boilers to generate electricity, thereby enhancing product competitiveness, reducing CO2 emissions, and protecting the environment.
The application of this technology helps Hoa Phat save energy and be self-sufficient in electricity for production.
Since July 2019, one year after installing its first generator unit, the plant’s power output has already met the electricity demand of the entire integrated iron and steel production complex. The cumulative electricity output has increased rapidly each year, reaching 5 billion kWh in September 2022 and 10 billion kWh in February 2025.
As part of the Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 project, the Group continues to invest heavily in waste heat recovery power generation lines. Accordingly, Thermal Power Plant No. 2 is being built with a capacity of 240 MW, consisting of four generator units, increasing the total power generation capacity of the entire complex to 600 MW. This will ensure 90% of the electricity demand for steel production at both Hoa Phat Dung Quat 1 and Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2.
At Hoa Phat Hai Duong, in addition to maintaining stable power output, the unit has just completed the renovation of the synchronization cabinets of turbine generators No. 1, 2, and 3, ensuring stable electricity generation when connected to the grid.
Hoa Phat Group emphasized that waste heat power generation not only provides effective energy savings but also plays a crucial role in its greenhouse gas emission reduction strategy, moving towards carbon neutrality. This sustainable solution takes advantage of waste heat from iron and steel production to generate electricity without using fossil fuels, thereby reducing pressure on the national power grid, especially during peak summer months.
For 2025, Hoa Phat Group has set a business target of VND 170 trillion in revenue and VND 15 trillion in after-tax profit.
In the first half of the year, Hoa Phat recorded over VND 74 trillion in revenue and more than VND 7.6 trillion in after-tax profit, increasing by 5% and 23% respectively compared to the same period last year.
With these results, after the first six months, the Group has completed 44% of its revenue target and 51% of its after-tax profit target. Steel and related products remain the key contributors, accounting for nearly 90% of the Group’s consolidated revenue.
