The cost of electricity for a refrigerator can account for 16% - 22% of a family's total annual electricity bill. The following article will reveal simple and effective ways to save electricity for a refrigerator.

8 tips for using a refrigerator to save electricity
1. Keep away from heat sources, do not place them close to the wall
Place the refrigerator in a cool place, at least 15 - 20cm from the wall, avoid sunlight or near heat sources such as gas stoves, microwaves.
2. Check the refrigerator door regularly
You should check the refrigerator doors. If there is a leak, the refrigerator will be less cold and the fridge will have to work harder, causing a waste of electricity.
3. Do not open the refrigerator door for too long or too many times
Do not leave the refrigerator door open for too long because outside air will enter, the refrigerator will consume more electricity.
4. Clean the condenser regularly
Clean the condenser 1-2 times/ year by unplugging the refrigerator, using a soft brush/ a dry cloth to remove dirt.
5. Adjust the temperature appropriately
Set the temperature of the compartments to the right cold level, avoid setting it at the coldest level.
6. Wrap food tightly in the refrigerator
Cover food tightly or put food in a specialized container so that the air conditioner does not have to dehumidify, increasing electricity consumption and avoiding odors in the refrigerator.
7. Do not put hot food in the refrigerator
Hot food will increase the temperature of the fridge, causing the compressor to operate at high capacity to balance the temperature of the fridge and consume more energy.
8. Do not store too much food in the refrigerator
Food should be moderate in the fridge, there should be space between foods for cold air to circulate, reducing power consumption.
