Notice on Adjustment of the Schedule for the Launch Ceremony of the Campaign “Using Energy Efficiency, Conservation and Responding to Earth Hour 2026 Nationwide”
The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) of Vietnam has served as the lead agency coordinating Viet Nam’s participation in the Earth Hour campaign for many consecutive years, contributing to raising awareness and promoting action among agencies, organizations, businesses, and citizens on energy efficiency and conservation.
In 2026, the Ministry launched the campaign “Using Energy Efficiency, Conservation and Responding to Earth Hour 2026 Nationwide” under the message “Green Innovation – Green Future.” The initiative calls on agencies and organizations to strengthen the practice of energy-efficient use; proactively apply technological solutions; innovate production and consumption patterns; and gradually establish responsible energy-use habits and lifestyles, thereby improving productivity, quality, and socio-economic development efficiency.
On February 10, 2026, the Ministry issued Official Letters No. 890/BCT-ĐCK, 891/BCT-ĐCK, and 892/BCT-ĐCK to provincial and municipal People’s Committees, Vietnam Electricity, and relevant entities to coordinate implementation of response activities. Accordingly, the Launch Ceremony, the Earth Hour running event, and related activities were originally planned to begin on March 7, 2026 (collectively referred to as the Launch Ceremony).
However, on March 15, 2026, the country will hold elections for deputies to the National Assembly of Vietnam (16th tenure) and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term. This important political event requires a high level of focus on security, order, and resource coordination before and during the period concerned.
Therefore, to ensure the Launch Ceremony is organized effectively and without affecting the general work of localities, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has adjusted the schedule of the Launch Ceremony and the Earth Hour running event to Saturday morning, March 21, 2026.
Communication materials for the campaign “Using Energy Efficiency, Conservation and Responding to Earth Hour 2026 Nationwide” have also been prepared.
To ensure the campaign is implemented in a unified, coordinated, and substantive manner with wide nationwide impact, the Ministry requests relevant units to continue communication and outreach activities, mobilizing citizens, employees, students, and youth members to actively participate in energy efficiency practices and Earth Hour 2026 activities in accordance with the adjusted plan, as follows:
Encourage people and unit members to participate in the Launch Ceremony and the Earth Hour running event under the message “Green Innovation – Green Future.”
Organize the Earth Hour running event: In person in Hanoi on the morning of Saturday, March 21, 2026 ,and Online nationwide from March 21 to April 11, 2026
Registration details:
The Ministry of Industry and Trade respectfully requests leaders of all units to give attention, direction, and active participation in implementing the above activities, thereby contributing to the nationwide spread of the campaign “Using Energy Efficiency, Conservation and Responding to Earth Hour 2026 Nationwide.”
