The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam has launched the campaign titled “Using Energy Efficiency, Conservation and Responding to Earth Hour 2026 Nationwide”

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam (MOIT) has launched the campaign titled “Using Energy Efficiency, Conservation and Responding to Earth Hour 2026 Nationwide” under the message “Green Innovation – Green Future.” This is one of the key initiatives aimed at raising public awareness about energy efficiency, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
Earth Hour is a global campaign with a strong communication impact, implemented in many countries to raise awareness and encourage community action toward efficient resource use, technological application, and innovation in development models. The campaign aims for a green, clean, and beautiful planet. In Viet Nam, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has served as the lead agency coordinating Earth Hour activities continuously for the past 15 years. The event has attracted active participation from provinces and cities nationwide, involving diverse social groups and delivering meaningful communication outcomes.
In 2026, with the message “Green Innovation – Green Future”, the Ministry seeks to initiate a movement with wide social impact, calling on government bodies, sectors, businesses, and citizens nationwide to strengthen the practice of energy-efficient use; proactively adopt technological solutions; innovate production and consumption patterns; and gradually establish responsible energy-use lifestyles, thereby improving productivity, quality, and socio-economic development efficiency.
A symbolic activity is the call for organizations, agencies, and citizens to switch off lights and unnecessary electrical equipment during the Earth Hour Lights-Off Event, from 20:30 to 21:30 on Saturday, March 28, 2026. This action not only reduces electricity consumption but also helps limit CO₂ emissions and protect the environment.

Many meaningful activities are organizing by the Ministry of Industry and Trade to encourage community participation:

- Developing and publishing an online identity toolkit for the movement;
- Organizing the national launch ceremony and a running event in response to Earth Hour 2026 on March 7, 2026 in Hanoi;
- Holding an online running challenge from March 7 to March 31, 2026;
- Launching an online quiz contest on energy efficiency knowledge, open to all participants, from March 7 to March 28, 2026, at: www.tietkiemnangluong.com.vn.
Individuals are encouraged to participate in the movement by:
- Joining the lights-off event from 20:30 to 21:30 on Saturday, March 28, 2026;
- Taking photos of their activities and posting them on social media with the hashtags #Tiết_kiệm_năng_lượng and #Giờ_Trái_đất;
- Saving electricity anytime and anywhere;
- Following and participating in energy-saving activities via the website www.tietkiemnangluong.com.vn and the fanpage of the Vietnam National Energy Efficiency Programme.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has also developed a communication toolkit for the campaign with the message “GREEN INNOVATION – GREEN FUTURE.” The toolkit includes poster, banner, pennant, Facebook frame, T-shirt, cap, and bag designs.
