Capacity Building on Energy Efficiency and Conservation for Technical Staff of Textile enterprises
From October 14 to 17, 2025, in Ho Chi Minh City, the training program “Scaling Up Energy Efficiency for Technical Staff of Textile Industrial Enterprises” was held under the framework of the Vietnam Scaling Up Energy Efficiency Project (VSUEE). The program was jointly organized by the Innovation, Green Transition and Industrial Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) and the World Bank, aiming to equip technical staff from textile and garment enterprises with in-depth knowledge and skills in energy management and efficiency.
Trainees are technical staff of enterprises in the Textile industry.
The training focused on providing practical and production-oriented knowledge, tailored to the needs of the textile and garment sector, one of Vietnam’s key industries, but also one with high energy consumption and significant emissions. According to experts, applying energy efficiency not only helps businesses reduce operational costs but is also a crucial factor in enhancing competitiveness, especially as major export markets such as the United States, the EU, and Japan increasingly tighten their standards on carbon emissions and product traceability.
The course content was designed to be highly specialized, covering key topics such as: Identification and development of energy efficiency projects; Technical and financial analysis of energy-saving solutions; Application of energy management systems in enterprises; Establishment of procedures for monitoring, measurement, and reporting of energy consumption. In addition, the training introduced innovative technologies and production improvement solutions to enhance energy performance, such as the use of high-efficiency equipment, natural lighting in factories, waste heat recovery, and low-water or waterless dyeing technologies to reduce both energy consumption and emissions.
Through this training program, the VSUEE Project aims not only to strengthen participants’ professional knowledge but also to update them on emerging trends in energy transition, circular economy, and green development within the textile and garment sector. This serves as essential preparation for trainees to become core agents promoting energy efficiency within their enterprises, contributing to national goals on energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emission reduction.
Capacity-building programs for technical staff, energy managers, and leaders of industrial enterprises in Vietnam are part of Component 2: Technical Assistance of the VSUEE Project. Through these activities, the Project continues to reaffirm the partnership between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the World Bank in supporting Vietnamese enterprises to improve energy efficiency, moving toward a green and sustainable industrial sector. |
