On the morning of March 8, 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) organized the Launching Ceremony and the Running Event "Nationwide Energy Efficiency and Conservation in Response to Earth Hour 2025" at the Tran Nhan Tong Walking Space, Nguyen Du, Hai Ba Trung, Hanoi.
Attending the ceremony and cheering on the athletes participating in the running event were representatives from MOIT, relevant government agencies, social organizations, industry associations, the business community, and media representatives.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr.Nguyen Hoang Long stated that under the theme "Green Transition - Green Future," MOIT is organizing various activities throughout March 2025 to support Earth Hour. These include the running event, an online competition on energy conservation, the "Electricity Saving Ambassador" competition, the "Journalism Awards on Energy Efficiency and Conservation," and the "Legal Knowledge on Energy Efficiency and Conservation" contest. A key highlight is the Earth Hour lights-off event, which will take place from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2025.

The running event attracted nearly 2,000 participants, including government officials, employees of MOIT and other agencies, representatives of industry associations, businesses, running enthusiasts, and athletes from various running clubs.

Ms. Kristina Buende, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Vietnam, emphasized: "The European Union and Vietnam share a common interest in green and circular transitions. Sustainable energy transition is a key area of EU-Vietnam cooperation, particularly through the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). With the government's strong commitment and public participation, I believe Vietnam will achieve its net-zero emissions target by 2050."
At the ceremony, Deputy Minister, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long, the EU Delegation's Head of Cooperation, and leaders from MOIT’s Innovation, Green Transition, and Industrial Promotion Agency, the Industry and Trade Magazine, Vietnam Electricity (EVN), Daikin Vietnam, and others jointly performed the launch ritual for the nationwide energy-saving campaign in response to Earth Hour 2025.

The virtual running event is being organized nationwide through the 84RACE sports training app from March 8 to March 31, 2025. It is expected to attract tens of thousands of professional and amateur athletes nationwide.
Deputy Minister, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long highlighted that the running event aims to amplify the message of "Green Transition—Green Future."
Through the message, MOIT seeks to inspire a widespread community movement that goes beyond electricity saving to promote sustainable energy production, increased use of renewable energy sources, and the adoption of energy-efficient products and equipment. Small individual actions, when combined, will create a powerful movement leading to a greener and more sustainable future.

The 5km race attracted many professional and amateur athletes to participate.
To further engage the public, MOIT is launching an online competition titled "Understanding Energy Conservation in Response to Earth Hour 2025." The contest runs from 8:00 AM on March 8 to 12:00 PM on March 28, 2025, and aims to diversify communication methods, spread awareness about energy conservation and environmental protection, and enhance community consciousness on these issues. |
