As the Lunar New Year approaches, electricity consumption increases significantly due to heightened demand. Saving electricity becomes a top priority, and it is a simple practice that everyone can adopt.

During Tet, households tend to consume more energy for activities such as storing food, cooking, laundry, ironing, heating homes, and decorating with electric lighting. Additionally, energy-intensive devices like refrigerators, freezers, water heaters, air conditioners, and fans often run at full capacity. This leads to a significant increase in energy consumption both in terms of usage time and the number of devices operating simultaneously.
Beyond households, public spaces and entertainment venues also experience higher electricity demand to accommodate Tet celebrations and festivities. Therefore, enhancing energy-saving practices is not just important but essential.
Saving electricity is not a difficult task that every individual can do.
Saving electricity doesn’t mean cutting down on necessary consumption but instead using electrical devices efficiently and effectively. By adopting energy-saving habits, individuals and families can reduce electricity consumption, lower energy bills, and minimize environmental pollution. This contributes to the success of the National Program on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy.
Lunar New Year is not just a time for family gatherings but also an opportunity to change our energy habits, creating a safer and more energy-efficient environment.
USE ELECTRICITY SAVINGLY DURING TET HOLIDAYS
- Make the most of natural light and ventilation, consider turning off decorative lights for Tet when there are no guests or when sleeping...
- Set the air conditioner to a suitable temperature (from 26oC).
- Avoid putting hot food in the refrigerator, or opening the refrigerator many times.
- The water heater should only be turned on 15-30 minutes before use.
- When washing machines, collect enough clothes for the machine's capacity in one wash, avoid washing continuously.
- Iron thick clothes first, unplug the power cord and use the remaining heat to iron the remaining thin clothes.
- Do not use high-capacity electrical appliances (electric stoves, washing machines, water heaters...) at the same time during peak hours (including the time frame from 11am to 2pm and from 6pm to 11pm).
