Xuan Thanh Cement Promote Greens Production Through Energy-Saving Solutions

Xuan Thanh Cement Joint Stock Company has been implementing a wide range of energy-saving initiatives, gradually realizing its goal of “greening” production while improving operational efficiency and protecting the environment.
Investing in Modern Technology to Optimize Energy Consumption
Recognizing energy efficiency as a key factor in enhancing competitiveness, Xuan Thanh Cement has invested in a highly automated, modern production line supplied by FLSmidth Group of Denmark. The centralized control system monitors and optimizes the entire production process—from raw material extraction, grinding, and clinker production to cement packaging—thereby minimizing energy losses throughout manufacturing.
Alongside technology investments, the company continuously upgrades equipment to improve operational efficiency. Many low-efficiency motors have been replaced with high-efficiency models. Notably, Xuan Thanh Cement installed variable frequency drives (VFDs) for the FM32 motor and a shared VFD system for the CL12 and CL13 motors. Although the solution did not alter the operating mode of the system, it significantly reduced electricity consumption compared to the previous soft-start method, saving approximately 1,500 kWh of electricity per day.

Utilizing Waste Heat for Power Generation
A key highlight of Xuan Thanh Cement’s energy-efficiency strategy is its waste heat recovery power generation system, which is considered one of the most advanced solutions currently available in the cement industry.
The system operates by capturing heat from exhaust gases and excess heat generated during clinker production. This recovered heat is converted into steam, which drives turbines to generate electricity. The electricity produced is integrated into the plant’s internal power network and used directly for manufacturing operations.
According to company statistics, the waste heat recovery system generates more than 300 million kWh of electricity annually, meeting approximately 30% of the plant’s total electricity demand. Producing part of its own electricity supply not only helps reduce pressure on the national power grid but also delivers substantial economic benefits, enabling the company to save approximately VND 60–70 billion in electricity costs each month.
In addition to its economic advantages, waste heat utilization contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, minimizing environmental impacts, and supporting the principles of circular economy and green manufacturing.

Expanding the Use of Alternative Raw Materials and Fuels
In parallel with technological solutions, Xuan Thanh Cement has focused on researching and utilizing alternative raw materials and fuels to reduce dependence on non-renewable resources.
By optimizing raw material mix ratios and incorporating mineral additives into production, the company reduces energy consumption per ton of product while lowering CO₂ emissions. The company also strengthens quality control of input materials and improves kiln operation efficiency, thereby reducing fuel consumption and maintaining consistent product quality.

Beyond production efficiency and business performance, Xuan Thanh Cement regards sustainable development as a core component of its long-term strategy. Energy conservation programs are implemented in parallel with a wide range of environmental protection measures, including dust control, exhaust gas treatment, waste management, and the development of green landscapes throughout the factory premises.
