GARCO 10 Gradually Saves Energy for Sustainable Development
Thứ ba, 05/05/2026 - 13:16
By implementing various energy efficiency solutions, GARCO 10 reduced its electricity consumption from 27,420,000 kWh in 2021 to 25,520,000 kWh in 2024, equivalent to a 6.9% reduction.
GARCO 10 is one of Vietnam’s leading textile and garment enterprises, specializing in the production and business of high-end apparel with one of the longest traditions in the country. From initially serving the military, the Corporation has expanded its product lines to serve not only the domestic market but also export to many reputable global markets.

As a key energy-consuming enterprise, alongside economic development, GARCO 10 also bears the responsibility of using energy efficiently and economically.
Mr. Pham Van Thuan, Deputy Head of the Mechanical and Electrical Department, stated that GARCO 10 has been implementing various energy-saving measures and has achieved encouraging results. Notably, the company has focused on investing in high-efficiency equipment systems to reduce operating costs.
Specifically, the Corporation replaced two manually operated coal-fired boilers (each with a capacity of 3 tons/hour) with one semi-automatic fluidized bed boiler (capacity of 4 tons/hour) using environmentally friendly biomass pellets. This solution reduces greenhouse gas emissions and fuel consumption. As a result, monthly energy costs decreased from VND 377 million to VND 254 million, saving VND 123 million per month, equivalent to approximately VND 1.47 billion annually.

In addition, the company replaced all recessed T5 fluorescent lamps in dining areas with energy-saving LED panel lights; fluorescent lamps in warehouses and classrooms at the LBC vocational training school were also replaced with LED lights, improving brightness and efficiency.
For the compressed air system, the Corporation installed automatic condensate drains at all air receiver tanks and pipeline endpoints, minimizing manual draining and reducing compressed air losses. Furthermore, the plant adjusted compressor operating pressure from 6–7.5 bar down to 5.5–6.5 bar (average 6 bar), saving approximately 6.16% of electricity consumption for compressors, equivalent to 85,378 kWh annually.
The Corporation also continues to upgrade equipment, apply new energy-saving technologies, and implement measures to improve labor productivity and reduce working hours, thereby saving electricity.

Alongside technical solutions, the Corporation places strong emphasis on energy management and monitoring at workshops and major energy-consuming equipment. Energy-saving performance is reviewed and reported weekly to the Corporation’s leadership.
Accordingly, the company has established an Energy Management Board and implemented the ISO 50001:2018 Energy Management System. It has also deployed an energy monitoring system in production, with 38 metering points connected to the Smart EE system via 5 ports and 3 ADAM modules. This system provides alerts on inefficient energy use, such as idle machine operation, compressed air loss, and heat/steam leakage due to system faults. Based on this data, the energy management team can analyze inefficiencies and promptly develop improvement plans to enhance equipment energy performance.

Mr. Pham Van Thuan noted: "Thanks to the effective and synchronized implementation of energy-saving measures, GARCO 10 is among key energy users with a high level of energy savings. Specifically, electricity consumption decreased by 6.9%, from 27,420,000 kWh in 2021 to 25,520,000 kWh in 2024, contributing to reduced CO₂ emissions."
| According to statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the industrial sector accounts for more than 50% of the country’s total energy consumption, with energy-saving potential estimated at 20–30%. Therefore, increased adoption of energy efficiency solutions by manufacturing enterprises not only helps reduce investment and operating costs but also plays a crucial role in the country’s socio-economic development. |
