On the afternoon of October 27, 2025, Webinar 3, "Energy Service Company (ESCO) – The Key to Promoting Energy Efficiency and Conservation in Industrial Enterprises”, was successfully organized via the Zoom online platform as part of the “Vietnam Scaling Up Energy Efficiency Project” (VSUEE).
Webinar 3: "Energy Service Company (ESCO) – The Key to Promoting Energy Efficiency and Conservation in Industrial Enterprises”
As the final session in the series of three webinars titled “Energy Efficiency – Investment Effectively”, this third webinar attracted nearly 70 participants, including representatives from industrial enterprises, energy service companies (ESCOs), and financial institutions interested in energy efficiency investments.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quang's presentation provided an overview of the definition and role of the ESCO model in promoting energy efficiency and conservation.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quang, Lecturer at the Faculty of Thermal Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, delivered a presentation to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the nature and role of the ESCO model in driving energy efficiency projects. Through this session, businesses gained insights into various ESCO partnership models tailored to their specific needs and financial capacities, enabling them to minimize risks associated with energy efficiency project implementation. The presentation also included practical examples of common ESCO types in Vietnam and worldwide, illustrating the long-term economic benefits and technical effectiveness of adopting ESCO models.
Following that, Mr. Mai Van Huyen, Director of the Green Development Center, presented on “The ESCO Market and Development Potential in Vietnam.” His session focused on the current status and opportunities of the domestic ESCO market, identifying key challenges faced by both enterprises and ESCO providers, including: the lack of a clear legal framework, limited financial resources, inadequate capacity to assess energy savings performance, and low trust among stakeholders. Mr. Huyen emphasized the critical role of supportive policies and green credit mechanisms in expanding the ESCO market’s scale. His presentation was particularly valuable for enterprises seeking flexible and sustainable investment models, as well as for ESCOs building their market access capacity.

Mr. Mai Van Huyen, Director of Green Development Center, shares the current situation and opportunities of the ESCO market in Vietnam.
Following the two presentations, a lively one-hour discussion session took place with the participation of Mr. Nguyễn Xuân Quang and Mr. Mai Văn Huyên. The session drew strong interest from industrial enterprises and ESCO companies, with many practical questions raised about: cooperation mechanisms between enterprises and ESCOs, criteria for evaluating and selecting suitable partners, and key factors ensuring transparency, efficiency, and sustainability in energy efficiency project implementation. Through open dialogue and sharing of real-world experiences from experts, the discussion helped businesses better identify collaboration opportunities with ESCOs while addressing obstacles and barriers in deploying energy efficiency measures at their production facilities.

Webinar 3 concluded the three-part webinar series “Energy Efficiency – Investment Effectiveness.” The series not only provided practical knowledge on the technical and financial support available under the VSUEE Project, but also created a networking platform connecting industrial enterprises, ESCOs, and financial institutions. These efforts contribute to promoting the development of a sustainable energy efficiency investment market in Vietnam.
